To the Dads who take care of and protect your children, Happy Father's Day!  To the "fathers" who don't support and care for your child, go fuck yourselves next time.

More LGF Idiocy

21. May 2010 23:57

I read LGF (Little Green Footballs) on a regular basis.  I'm not exactly sure why because most of the posts are attacks on either sound ideas or unsettled ones.  I think I just like reading idiocy from someone that claims to be a conservative but holds mostly liberal/progressive views.  Hence my first of many posts in my "More LGF Idiocy" category.  Now for the idiocy...

This installment is regarding LGF's posts (here and here) attacking Ron and Rand Paul's views on the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  LGF seems to believe that the Constitution some how gives the federal government the authority/power to force private businesses/individuals with whom they must associate.  Not exactly sure how this could be considered a conservative view but hey what would a libertarian know.  I just don't understand how anyone could support putting a gun to someone's head and telling them they must associate with a particular group of people.  It boggles my mind.  Liberty is about able to make decisions for one's self, right or wrong, good or bad, as long as one is not harming someone else.  And no, refusing to do business with someone does not constitute harming them.

I close with a quote from Ron Paul that sums it all up very nicely:

"The Civil Rights Act of 1964 gave the federal government unprecedented power over the hiring, employee relations, and customer service practices of every business in the country. The result was a massive violation of the rights of private property and contract, which are the bedrocks of free society. The federal government has no legitimate authority to infringe on the rights of private property owners to use their property as they please and to form (or not form) contracts with terms mutually agreeable to all parties. The rights of all private property owners, even those whose actions decent people find abhorrent, must be respected if we are to maintain a free society."

Opening Rant

I figured I enjoy political and economic topics and discussions enough to start writing about them.  Most future posts will be me ranting about some article I read or some idea I heard.  I'll have plenty of topics and tidbits to write about given my reading and co-workers.  Hope I get some traffic and discussion.  One voice among the crowd.
